You know how you flip the pages of your journal week after week and all of a sudden you find yourself on the next month? January felt like that. The past few days of the month came and past rather eventfully.

A rare weekend not spent sailing called for a date out (in the sun, again) to East Coast Park to roller-blade. But even before we got those skates out, Bren's phone met with an unfortunate demise (I knew we shouldn't have crossed those breakwaters!). Adamant not to spoil the day, he wrapped the phone and kept it in his bag, hoping for its revival. It was a nice day out because the weather held up with little gusts of wind here and there. At the end of our sweaty day, we attempted to "explore" the East -- i.e. Tampines, but concluded that perhaps all of the heartland malls in Singapore are pretty similar.

(PS. it took three days and three-hundred dollars to get that phone working again)

The LG was working fine but it died right after this wide smile

Now you know who wears the pants in our relationship

Always wanted to watch how they make nitrogen ice-cream

In the shade vs. under the sun

Week 4 of school began with the 11th Executive Committee waking up extra early to take our official photograph outside the Business school in SMU. The journey just began and I can't say that we're not a tiny bit jaded already (think: cheering when we ran through the year's calendar and ended at the day that we 'handover') but I hope the seven of us will continue learn and grow together by the end of our term.

Singapore Straits Regatta began and me not missing any classes was a bonus because I've learnt my lesson from last semester. I was so excited prior to racing because I hadn't sailed in so long. The three days began and ended with us travelling on trains and shuttle buses starting early in the mornings and ending late in the evenings but it was fulfilling.

It was fulfilling to see that we fought hard despite being the (yes I would say this aloud) underdogs. Continuously fine-tuning our boat settings, asking some of the older sailors for golden advice, we leaped on our last day of races. Although this wasn't enough to push us up a few more positions overall, I'm glad that we not only yelled profanities  while racing, but laughed at the most crucial moments because we have that little bit of crazy in us.

The past three months of five events campaigning for SEA Games were bittersweet. I'm definitely the weakest link on the boat with the least experience but these three girls have never stopped believing that I could be better. They've answered every single one of my stupid questions (and laughed too) and I've learnt a lot sailing on the SB with them. We even made our team shirts (although they only arrived just in time for the last day of Straits...).

So we're called 5ivestones Racing (I don't know where to start explaining our team name)
