The week before our long break was pretty hellish. Midterm, morning class, midterm, morning class, presentation and another midterm. The only thing that kept me going was the weekend: two good days to make up for five plagued with deprivation of sleep.

And those two days were good.

Well it's finally recess week, which means we're halfway through the semester! I'm still latching onto the minutes of shut-eye I can get despite the 5-day long holiday we were gifted with to celebrate the Lunar New Year (thankful for holidays that leak into the weekends to be honest). The third month of the year is also slowly creeping up on us (already??). It's the start of recess week, which doesn't really feel like a recess:

recess
rɪˈsɛs,ˈriːsɛs/

noun
1a small space created by building part of a wall further back from the rest.
"a table set into a recess"
2. a period of time when the proceedings of a parliament, committee, court of law, or other official body are temporarily suspended.
"talks resumed after a month's recess"

I suppose the meaning in this case should be similar to the latter. No not really. A recess week merely gives us more time to hold more project meetings. Perhaps time to squeeze in assignments as well? Oh and also to catch up on the past six weeks' worth of work.

So many things to do, so little time. Wait, what's a recess again?
