I finally have some time to write a little about Western that took place over the first two weekends the semester started. We started preparing for this event months before summer and boy, was the journey tough. I would be lying blatantly if I said everything turned out smooth-sailing (pun) because we met with so so so many setbacks and difficulties along the way. Running the three days of the events and sailing at the same time wasn't easy but I had my group of trusty organising committee behind me, always asking if I needed any help with programmes. The days became better with every one and the finale ended with a bang (and some drunk ping-pong). It wasn't easy but looking back now, I'm rather thankful to have experienced the planning of this regatta's programmes and also finally understanding how difficult it is to run a regatta well (although I was only in charge of programmes). Honestly, I took away a lot from these three days (and the months of planning) on top of sailing in the afternoons -- I learnt to trust people more and not overload myself with everything because everyone is there to help. But of course, at the same time, I'm actually glad that is over because I was exhausted from sailing, planning, running up and down with walkie-talkies and making sure every hiccup was solved.

Back to the sailing bit for this regatta, smuMAD did pretty well and I'm glad I was placed with this crew because we had a lot of fun dressing up (different outfit for different days) and I would definitely not forget everything we did on board as well. Every regatta serves as another level up because of the experiences we accumulate and I'm very thankful for that.
