Taiwan Day 4: Kenting > Nantou
8:42 AM
12 December 2013
Probably the least enjoyable day of the holiday. I don't think I'll be touching any sashimi or eating raw fish in a long while. Today felt like a blur because my stomach was very queasy and I didn't feel well at all. Felt horrible because I was such a burden although I managed to get out of the car and sightsee.
The temperature dropped and it was soooo cold but I think that was partly because of the higher altitude we were at. I was still quite aware of my surroundings although I didn't enjoy it fully (biggest regret). The magnificence of the Sun Moon Lake, the peace of the village and every stretch of tranquility and peace. Every breath I took (and the smell) made me feel a little sicklier and nauseated - the fried food, eggs and even soup. I barely had enough energy and felt weak and wobbly to my knees (such a disgrace to sportsmen really). Anyway, glad my parents forced-fed me a few mouthfuls of rice because I definitely needed the carbs.
Before my stomach succumbed to the virus, I managed breakfast - perfect sesame bun (sosososo good I have a weakness for sesame to be honest) and hot steaming almond soy milk.
First stop of the day was the Paper Dome (and you've guessed it right, everything was made of paper, even the buildings).
I reallyyyyyy wanted a drink but I felt so sick after that.
At the Sun Moon Lake - I could manage a few weak smiles whenever the camera was pointed towards me...
And then on the river cruise of the lake, this was how I looked....
At our next lodging.
阿姨 made us piping hot egg fried rice (I really like how they put pork floss into everything yum).
Han with 小部, the resident sausage dog.
After my 2-hour nap I felt soooooo fresh and sooooo good but I was soooooo hungry and so my dad walked out of the village (nothing was open then) to get me cup noodles hehe.
Secretly happy I managed to not eat so much unhealthy food throughout the day. Highlight of the day was checking into our 民宿: a cosy little house in the outskirts. The freshest air (despite it being very cold) and because we arrived when it was already dark, we haven't got to see the fresh vegetables and fruits the family plants around their garden. They've got two playful dogs (more pictures at the next day). Also, we found out that not only does the family shares the same surname as us, the entire village carries the same surname too! How cool is that really.
