The two weeks in Thailand were great but if I had stayed there another week, I might have started hating the traffic, the unhealthy lifestyle, the chaos of it all. I'm glad to be home, even more so glad to be able to sit down and write (which I haven't in the longest time). It's finally summer and although I've got a lot of camp-related things to work out, I can't say I'm not enjoying it.

The regatta went fairly well for Hi Jinks and I'm proud to say that we fought really hard. I was looking forward to the R&R every single day of the regatta but when TOGR was over, I missed rigging up drenched in my own perspiration and looking out for the other boats in our class out at sea. I miss repeating the "no complacency" rule to my crew whenever we came in first during the day-race. Nonetheless, some really good memories were made and that I'll never forget.

R&R was at Bangkok and Krabi. Bangkok was packed with shopping and more shopping but we managed to find some famous street stalls and I even went into a roadside salon for a haircut. In Krabi we were mostly found playing ball in the pool (we split into two villas because there were 22 of us), watching movies on the tele, going for bike-rides across town, island-hopping, having a BBQ party and putting off sky lanterns.

Too much junk food, too many late-nights, too many early-mornings. I thought it was a very good start to kick the summer off.

And because the photos aren't up on Facebook yet, here's some of the 500-odd photos we took in that two weeks:

And we've come to the end of our TOGR 2014 journey. First trip out of the country (leaving on a jet plane) with the team and I've a little more about each of my team mates, especially my roomies. I'm glad they assign us to our rooms instead of letting us choose for ourselves because I've always believed that spending time with one another (one-on-one) always made people closer. But of course, friction always exists when there are people, especially when we're on the boats. Yelling, screaming and cursing at one another isn't uncommon, but it's a given that whatever happens on the boat stays on the boat. You quarrel, you make up and you get over it, done. I've always painted this flawless picture of our club but I seem to find loopholes here and there after spending so much time together. I guess there isn't such thing as perfection but all these friction, they bond us a tad bit closer. And this is the beauty of it all.
