When You’re Surrounded By People, But You’re More Alone Than Ever | Thought Catalog

Read this on Thought Catalog on this rainy holiday-morning.

I don't know how many of us are feeling this way, but some days things might get pretty tough and it's nice to know that you're not in this alone. Ever since uni started, this phrase has resounded in my head unknowingly - how you actually have sooooo many friends but still feel as alone as ever. I wonder whether I've changed over the years, because I've never thought making new friends was tiring, until now. When you meet someone new every day, and granted, remember their names, you search for topics to talk about that don't reveal too much about yourself and not probe too deep into others' as well. Then you say your goodbyes and well, maybe not ever meet again. Doing this everyday is definitely draining, I must admit. I've concluded that this is 'a uni thing' but ultimately, my main source of comfort is definitely knowing that I've got a group of friends I can always turn to. Just the thought of them being there for me all the time calms the storm in me and I know I can always count on them. I remind myself to cherish these very very very precious people because we'll grow old together, always remember.
