if the wind is right you can sail away

Under my mom's encouragement, I took a step out of my snug bubble and have since been active in a water sport - sailing. Been playing table tennis more than half my life and to be honest, I detest individualistic sports. I've always loved the idea of a team winning and losing together and not just playing for yourself. I remember how I adored the AC Canoe culture back in school but my academic grades were horribly rotten so I couldn't take the risk of spending six out of seven days a week training. But I've always admired how every member felt like part of the team and envied the friendships they forged over the two years in that CCA. So, since uni will be the last four years I will ever spend pursuing an education without having to earn money at the same time, it's probably time to do something I would really enjoy. We're into the ninth week of school and I've got no regrets so far.
at our first race two Saturdays ago |
I was at the bow (totally pressurising and stressful, not kidding) |
our boat finished 2nd!!!! |
at the dock where all of SMU's boats are kept |
during recess week - the freshies had to complete our level 1 course in order to be certified for official races |
with our coach for the past three days - uncle robert |
not all of the freshies attended the course but had a great three days (waking up at 6am and despite travelling for at least two hours to and fro) getting sunburns, tans, tasting salt water, capsizing, getting yelled at, eating live baby prawns, battling thunderstorms, taking theory and practical tests.
glad to say we all made it :')
