and all the world is calm
1:07 AMEventful Black Friday yesterday. But of course, highlight of the day: lovely time spent with the birthday girl Cheryl. Infinitely blessed with this precious friendship that has strengthen both of us in all ways possible. It's so ironic how we've known one another since J1 but the number of photographs we've taken together in 2011 and 2012 can be counted in two hands whereas I have trouble choosing photographs of us in 2013 (only six months) to make a collage because there're just too many. To a million more photo albums together.
Happy birthday babe, hope you had a swell time (because I sure as hell did).

House @ Dempsey because Cheryl had always wanted to try it (and despite it being my 3rd time I loved it just as much) |
truffle-taro fries - gave eating junk a healthy twist (although I could still taste the deep-fried-ness) |
braised pork shoulder rigatoni - tasty but it could've been served hot and with a smack of melted cheese |
round 1 of dessert: strawberry shortcake with airy-light vanilla cream - very soft and fluffy but a little too floury for our liking |
round 2 of dessert: choco-banana parfait @ Saintmarc Cafe, Vivo City - mediocre but satisfying |
silly girl with her gift |
us all upset and appalled after our shocking brush with the law |

Must say that driving to Dempsey is so much easier than taking public transport. We were lucky to find a good spot right beside House (that was esp easy to parallel-park).
Speaking of which, we headed down to Vivo from Dempsey to catch a movie at quarter to 10 but ended up eating dessert because the tickets were all sold out (friday night woes). And to think we got into a tiny bit of trouble on the way there: kind of made an illegal u-turn at Sentosa Gateway to avoid going all the way in and exiting again. Ended up on the wrong lane and had streams of cars coming towards us. Had a police car holler its siren at us and a policeman reprimanding me (and I sat there w my heart in my mouth, saying sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry). But it ended well with the really nice policemen helping us block the traffic with their siren and letting us drive out of the junction against traffic flow. Cheryl and I started screaming in the car when we felt we were safe (hahahaha) because damn the atmosphere was tensed... (glad I had my first encounter with the police with you babe)
Ended up driving home alone at two in the morning (thankful for the peaceful ride home with minimum traffic compared to the evening's expressway-peak-hour rush). Had a tiny bit of trouble parking because I got stuck at the same spot (felt that I would hit the cars both in front and behind me) for 10 minutes. And in the end a kind soul (at half past two) left his car running to help me park mine. And yet again thankful for such patient people who would lend a hand.
All in all, really had a good night out with Cheryl (believe it or not, it was my first midnight movie) and I'm really glad I got to spent end of her 18th and beginning of her 19th year with her. To a friendship and love like this that only get stronger every year. And a poem I found to end this off:
Even
if we were oceans apart, not even
that could separate us.
For
those who don’t
know the bond a bow
ties in a friendship,
it
hits you
and
in that exact moment you just know.
You
just know
that they’re such a lovely, intriguing person
and
you love them
and
you’d die for them
and
not even a million fights could make you hate them.
In
that moment, you just know who your best friends are.
